I would like to send out a special congratulations to Lowell based Dimdim, the open source online meeting software, who announced a webinar service that captured the blogospheres attention today. The service will allow anyone to hold a webinar for up-to 1,000 users starting at just $75 per month. It is reported to be less expensive and easier to use than better known services and 1,000 users is more than enough for most corporate users. One of my recent webinars topped out at just under 200 registrations.
“Dimdim is proud to maintain its commitment to offer free and affordable ways for everyone to meet online through our democratization of real-time, rich media collaboration.” said DD Ganguly, CEO and co-founder of Dimdim. I love how companies (including my own) just love to fly the “democratization of X” verbage when describing their services. DD Ganguly was included in my 25 Boston Area CEOs to follow on Twitter Yesterday for the Tweeps out there following local technology.
Dimdim offers a free 30 day trial of Dimdim Webinar and an unlimited number of webinars for only $828 per year (or $75 per month, pay as you go) after that. If you choose not to purchase after the 30 days, you can still use a 20-attendee version of Dimdim absolutely free.
It is a great thing when a local company gets a bit of love. Here is just some of the coverage for Dimdim today.

Thanks for the congratulations! We’re incredibly excited to be launching Dimdim Webinar. Our free and premium offerings have been doing well with people hosting webinars, but we had a lot of requests for something to address hosting large scale webinars, without having to go the dedicated Dimdim Enterprise route. Dimdim Webinar is our answer-priced competitively, with a free 30-day Trial, and you always have the option of continuing with Dimdim Free to meet with up to 20 people if you decide you don’t need Dimdim Webinar.
It’s truly is a great place to be!
Thanks!
