Google to Launch Affiliate Program

I just heard a rumor that Google is testing a CPA or Cost-Per-Action model through it’s AdSense program which is currently Cost-Per-Click. Publishers would place banner or text ads on their websites and only get paid when the users completes a desired action on the other website (fill out a lead form, purchase a product, etc.).

This is a big development for the affiliate world and could spell issues for our local Marlborough, MA based Commision Junction (BeFree) and other affiliate networks like ValueClick. For example, on some of my other ad supported sites and B2B clients sites, I would 100% look into this program as both a revenue source (ad supported) and lead generation source (b2b).

Google has such a strong customer base with the AdSense program that it would be hard to think that it would not be a big hit.

If anyone that has received the email, please let me know!
