- MocoSpace (Boston, MA), the fast growing mobile social network, announced this week that it has successfully secured $3 million in Series A funding led by General Catalyst Partners of Cambridge, Mass., with additional funding through Pilot Group and individual investor and former eBay executive Michael Dearing.
- WIS.DM (Cambridge, MA) captured $5 million in a round led by Northbridge Ventures. The social networking site centers around connecting users through a simple YES or NO question interface.
- TheAlarmClock reported that mobile stealth start-up PeerMeta (link?) received an undisclosed round of funding. The company claims to be building “a new generation of web-enabled mobile devices”
- Fresh from the Boston Video game Round-Up, Conduit Labs (Cambridge, MA) announced $5.5 Million in Series A investment from Charles River Ventures (CRV) and Prism VentureWorks. – read more about it on Read/Write Web.
- SonicBids (Boston, MA) the music promotion website announced that it received $4.5 million in funding from the Edison Venture Fund.
- Xconomy (Cambridge, MA) the recently launched local technology blog announced an undisclosed round of funding on August 10th
- Veveo (Andover, MA), the maker of the soon-to-launch Vtap mobile video search service, captured $14M in funding after an earlier $14M round back in May
- DarwinSuzSoft (Wakefield, MA) a local company that helps other companies outsource work to China announced $48 million!
- Vlingo (Cambridge, MA), the mobile speech navigation start-up, pulled in $6.5M in funding from from Charles River Ventures and Sigma Partners.
- Scrybe, Corp. ( Boston, MA) announced it’s has closed its first round of Series A funding from Adobe Systems Incorporated and LMKR. It is an online organizer
- Compete (Boston, MA), the fast growing analytics company, announced $10 million in funding at the beginning of the month.
