Local technology kingpin Ray Ozzie, the creator of IBM’s Lotus Notes and Groove Networks (Beverly, MA acquired by Microsoft in 2005) assumed the title of Microsoft Chief Software Architect previously held by Chairman Bill Gates.
That’s filling big shoes! When asked how daunting a task this would be during an interview with CNET, Ray remarked,
“If you look at my past, and the kinds of technological challenges that I’ve dealt with, one of the things that I truly enjoy is taking on things that are complex challenges…It’s large, but to me it’s not daunting. This is something that I can do where I can take all of the experiences I’ve gained in 30 years in the industry and apply many or most of those lessons,”
How cool is Ray? Twice he has started technology companies that were bought by the biggest tech companies in the biz at the time – IBM & Microsoft. Before this announcement, I was trying to dig to see if he was going to try and make a hat trick.
If he did start another company, does that mean he would have to get it bought by Google?
