Swaptree Gets Another Look From TechCrunch

Swaptree, “social bartering” site out of Boston, has received a second look from popular tech blog TechCrunch. Great review for a local company that is currently in a controlled Beta.

Swaptree
The company is an interesting concept that will let people easily trade or swap items like books, CDs, DVDs and other materials without exchanging any cash. Users will be able to create lists of what the have to swap and what they would like to swap – all of which will be searchable by other users.

The site will even analyze these lists and attempt to connect passive users together. The company intends to monetize their offering through contextual advertising. I would assume that the historical data from the lists would extremely valuable after the site has operated for awhile as well.

I have requested an invitation to the beta and will review the product later.

Any ideas where swaptree is HQ’d in Boston?

I think they are located on Broad St. on one side of the Financial District.

Thank you.

Actually – after digging a bit…they are located in Brookline. The company is a part of a software company named Sidebar Software.

no the founders previously started a company in brookline. sSwaptree is HQd on Broad Street in downtown Boston and has nothing to do with Sidebar (other then same founders)
