WorkshopLive, Inc., based in Pittsfield, announced closing of an institutional round of $3.25 million in new funding lead by GIV Venture Partners.
WorkshopLive delivers personalized music lessons through a broadband Video. The company’s patent-pending technology determines how each student learns best, then delivers the music teachers, music lessons and learning environment that best suits the student’s needs. The funds will be used to expand marketing, and to hire additional staff to add functionality to the renowned WorkshopLive e-learning platform. In conjunction with this financing, Chris Legg and Adam Jackson, both from GIV Venture Partners, will be joining the WorkshopLive board of directors.

This is perhaps the best adult instrument learning website/service out there. For the cost of one weekly lesson a quarter, you have video lessons based on style (blues, jazz, acoustic, etc), and beginner thru advanced. you can slow the lessons down, play along on a loop, and customize your own lesson plan. they are all in Flash or quicktime.
And you can actually read the transcriptions and print them out!
