WorkshopLive, Inc., based in Pittsfield, announced closing of an institutional round of $3.25 million in new funding lead by GIV Venture Partners.

WorkshopLive delivers personalized music lessons through a broadband Video. The company’s patent-pending technology determines how each student learns best, then delivers the music teachers, music lessons and learning environment that best suits the student’s needs. The funds will be used to expand marketing, and to hire additional staff to add functionality to the renowned WorkshopLive e-learning platform. In conjunction with this financing, Chris Legg and Adam Jackson, both from GIV Venture Partners, will be joining the WorkshopLive board of directors.

David Smolover, founder and CEO, said, “With 70 million individuals having high-speed access at home, the Internet has proven its viability in all sorts of interesting new uses, and one of the most exciting is distance learning. This important investment will further position WorkshopLive for growth in both our customer base and our offerings. We appreciate the vote of confidence from such forward-thinking investors such as Bill Melton of GIV Venture Partners.”
